The Case for Unified Control

As audiovisual systems become more complex, the requirement for a “unified control system” for multiple devices has become somewhat mandatory to order to ensure a simple user experience. Typically a meeting room or presentation room will consist of multiple audiovisual devices, e.g.

• LCD/Plasma Screen or Projector and Projection Screen
• DVD player
• Video-conferencing system
• TV system feed
• Input switcher
• Audio re-enforcement system (amplifier / microphones / mixer)

So even with this basic system, there are possibly 6x remote control handsets to deal with! To anyone who ever struggled to get their DVD player to record a TV program at home, you can imagine how this could be 5x more complex. In addition, contemporary lighting, drapery and environmental management systems are all essential to creating and maintaining a suitable environment (scene) for your multimedia requirements.

One Control to Rule Them All!

Our application control systems provide a complete “unified remote control” approach, where a single remote control (handset or touch panel) enables control over all of the audiovisual and environmental systems… one control to rule them all!

Our control system programmers are fully Certified and experienced in creating simple and intuitive control panel layouts and menu navigations. Single soft or hard buttons can be created with ‘macros’ which perform multiple commands (tasks) at the press of a single button. For example:

Pressing the “System On” button could:

• Switch on the LCD/Plasma Screen (or switch on the projector and lower an electric projection screen)
• Switch on the videoconferencing system
• Switch the video input to “Laptop Input”
• Switch the audio input to “Laptop Input”
• Enable the microphones
• Turn the volume to a pre-set level
• Close drapes, curtain and blinds
• Adjust lighting levels to the correct scene
• Adjust temperature controls to the required setting
